Ozil to receive award from German FA

Real Madrid forward Mesut Ozil will be recognised as Germany’s player of the year for 2011 before Wednesday’s friendly with France in Bremen.
The 23-year-old, who has won 30 caps, topped a vote by members of the the German Football Association’s official fan club and will receive his award at the Weser Stadion.
“Of course I am delighted by this,” he said.
